Special Education at Clifford Academy

The Clifford Academy consists of a highly qualified and licensed team of dedicated educators here to meet the individual needs of our students.  We have services in all core academic areas, as well as occupational therapy, speech & language, and therapeutic services offered by our team of clinicians.  All staff participate in regular Therapeutic Crisis Intervention trainings and refresher courses keeping up to date on current best practices helping children de-escalate and develop better coping skills.   At Clifford Academy, we work extensively with each student’s team developing an IEP that addresses all aspects of a student’s educational needs.  Our highly qualified staff is committed to supporting all students in making progress toward IEP goals and benchmarks.

At Clifford Academy, our students are enrolled in small group-size classes with daily opportunities for 1:1 support, as well as push-in and pull-out services from our team of specialists.  Our classrooms have Smartboards and computers, and students are also provided access to iPads to complete work independently.  We issue quarterly progress reports focusing on daily data collection to constantly track student progress.  We also focus heavily on transition planning with the team to ensure there is a robust plan promoting opportunities for independence, job skill training, college, and/or other future plans and goals that are a part of the team’s vision.
