The Small Machinery Program at Clifford Academy
In the Small Machinery program, students learn the operating principles of the single cylinder two-stroke and four-stroke engines. Hands-on engine overhaul will be performed by all students. Instruction will also be given on fuel, ignition, lubrication and starting systems. Diagnostics for engine troubleshooting and tune-up will also be learned with the safe and proper use of mechanics’ tools and equipment.
Students learn to select and safely use a variety of hand and power tools commonly used with machinery, equipment, structures and utilities. The Small Machinery program develops a professional foundation in the work habits, techniques, and attitude necessary to obtain and retain entry-level position in the small machinery industry. Students are prepared for all phases of the small machinery industry including repair and service work.
